My New Favourite Trimmer!

I spent the day teaching at the Supershow...and I have a new love. ( Sorry Honey!)
First I have to confess that I am very picky about trimmers. I have owned dozens and can give you the run down on what each trimmer has good and bad about it. Apron first sett ting my eyes on the new Westcott Trimmer I was skeptical... I was WRONG to be.
They have worked out a few kinks that bother me about many of their competitors.
-The trimmer and score blades have enough "storage" space on each side that you never have to remove one to use the other!! No more lost scoring blades!
-The trimmer and scoring blades are clearly marked and labelled ...no more accidentally cutting when you meant to score.
-The blade arm has measurements and an guide arrow so you can easily measure to "gut" a piece of paper!! LOVE THIS!!!
- They come in hot pink and blue!
- The blade themselves are made from Titanium..so they last three times as long.
- The blade arm itself is one single sturdy piece of plastic that will never warp or wow...your 100th cut will be as straight as your 1st.
- The American MSRP is around $10 to $15...this blew me away!!
So today's question is:
What is your favourite thing about your trimmer and what is one thing you wish your could change?
Remember to win all you have to do is answer the question on my blog ( here) or Allison's blog http://www.allisonorthner.blogspot.com/ or you can EMAIL the Scrapbook Pantry through their website http://www.scrapbookpantry.ca/contacts.aspx. with your answer.
You can enter only once a day...on each site...that's a total of three chances a day to win!!!
Winner will be announced FEB 1st!!!

  1. I love my Making Memories trimmer for its full sized base, full lines for lining up, and its self sharpening feature...if only it had a score blade....

  2. I have the fiskar euro trimmer. I love it's portability. One thing I would look for in my next trimmer is instead of a swing out arm, I would want a full sized base.

I wonder if there's a trimmer out there that is both portable but also has a full sized base that slides out. Thanks for the chance to win.

  3. I don't have a favourite trimmer.... I have a *thing* for paper cutters/trimmers and have bought several over the years. I want one that cuts well, cuts straight, has grid lines, easily portable... sounds like this one might be one for me to try!

  4. OK, I think you may have won me over already!!!!
Christy I have gone through many trimmers as well and seem to come back to my little grey Fiskars one. But I hate how quickly it goes through the blades. So this one has caught my interest most definitely!

    Hope you're having fun!!!

  5. I have the new Creative Memories trimmer it has rotary blades so the cuts are nice and clean. Also titanium blades. You can purchase various blades that give you wavy or perforated cuts and a scoring blade is also available.

  7. I like that my grey Fiskars trimmer is compact, has the grid lines for cutting, but don't like that I seem to be buying replacement blades most of the time. Sounds like this one is worth a try!!

  8. I still have my original Fiskars trimmer from about 10 years ago. It still works, so the kids get that one. I also have the newer version which is great too. I love that they have lasted forever. Hate that the blades wear out too soon and the cutting bar warps over time.

  9. Apparently you will be brining one of these home for me as well.... ;)

  10. I like my trimmer because it's lightweight and portable, but after seeing the new one you mentioned, I think I need to look for another to back me up. Thanks for giving us the downlow.

  12. If you bring one home for Kim and not me.... It will refuse to be your BFF.
Trimmers- likein mine but hate that I always seem to need to measure right where the arm folds out- where there are no measuring marks.

  13. I too go through trimmers - i have the big fiskars table one for lots of papers (classes), then I have the mm trimmer - just too big to use all the time - too messy of a scrapper to keep on my table (will change that 2010 - hopefully). My everyday one is the fiskars purple one - i do like it, but like you hate loosing the blades, etc...

I may have to take you up on the new trimmer - titanium and no more loosing blades & the price - wahoo!!! (put one in my basket of goodies if i win)!

  14. I have to say I still like my old faith the gray fiskar trimmer. I have tried several types and always go back to the fiskars. I think I might try the new one your using at CHA...sounds interesting.

  15. I love my Fiskars trimmer, the old, old one like from 8-10 years ago, it use to be grey & orange but, I have a purple & orange one & you want to know why because I can "understand" it whereas with others I can't...I know my measurements...

I would change that you have to take out the score blad to use the blade & that it's not always that accurate & can sometimes cut crooked!

  16. I have the Making Memories and I like that the blad is self sharpening.

  17. I am using the lower model Fiskars trimmer right now (not the rotary blade). Notice I said "currently using" NOT "loving". I started out with the lime green provocraft one and I liked it. But as I got more advanced there were things I didn't like about it (and after 4 years it broke) so I recently bought the Fiskars one. Likes: Feels durable, so far it cuts straight, portable. Dislikes: the blade is a cheap piece of...ahem...well you get the picture. It falls out all the time and it feels like I am going to break the darn thing every time I touch it. So in conclusion, I don't have a fave trimmer and I SO appreciate this post! I will be checking out your new love! LOL

  18. I have many paper trimmers, but my favourite is the Fiskars as it it easily mats pictures for you. The guide has a thin plastic grid that stops your picture (that has been matted on the cardstock),1/4" away so you get perfectly matted pictures and cardstock everytime!
I hate that the blades dull so quickly and that they always fall out in my bag when I go to crops!!

  19. I have an old school Fiskars trimmer and my favourite thing about it is that it cuts EXACTLY where it shows it's cutting - no surprises. What I am not so fond of is that it's kind of small and the pull our ruler isn't hugely accurate.

  20. My trimmer is light and portable and one thing I would look for in my next trimmer is a full sized base.I want one that cuts well ,cuts straight and has grid lines. Thanks for the chance to win.

  21. I have two trimmers...my regular Fiskars one and my heavy duty Stampin' Up! one. I love my Fiskars when I need to make sure my cuts are really precise but I hate how short lived the blades are. I love my Stampin' Up! one because I can cut more than one piece of cardstock at a time but sometimes the measurements aren't as precise.

  22. I have the portable Fiskars trimmer which loves to wiggle instead of cutting in a straight line. It's time for a reliable trimmer!

  23. This trimmer sounds fabulous! My biggest pet peeves about my trimmer are trying to measure using the foldout arm and that the cuts never seem to end up straight (blade housing is too bendy).

  24. I have a fiskars right now and have to agree that it is irritating to have the blades fall out and then have to search for them. I just have not discovered anything to replace it with. The one you are talking about sounds fabulous. Give it some time and then tell us if it is still that great.

  25. I too am picky about trimmers & cost. I have a small rotary trimmer by cutterpede that I like for small stuff, like cards or photo cropping. A large fiskars rotary which mostly comes out when I am doing Large projects or multiples. For all my trimmers great & accurate guidelines in all the right places is important. My least favorite feature...when the blade wobbles & you get a not quite straight cut- grrrr!

  26. love my purple Marvy trimmer w/ all the funky interchangeable blade-runner (got it on CropandCruise). Wish I could snag a scoring blade somewhere.

  27. I actually just broke my last of my favourite trimmers......Cutterpede, I loved the rotary cutter and that you could get different edges.

What I hate is that they breaks so easily.

So now I am on the hunt for a new trimmer that makes me happy

  28. If you love it, I'm going to love it as I am still on the hunt for the perfect trimmer.

  29. I have a fiskar trimmer and the only thing that bugs me about it is how often I have to change the blade - and oh yah - it does bug me that I have to take the scoring blade out to cut properly

  30. I have my 10 year old fiskars trimmer (the grey one with orange blade). I am happy with it...I know how to use it. I just don't like it when it doesn't cut straight or the blade gets dull.
